Tenney ETCU Series Temperature Humidity Cycling Chambers

The Tenney ETCU Ultimate Series Temperature Humidity Cycling Chamber features scroll compressor technology that provides quiet operation, fast transition rates, and reliable operations.

The chambers incorporate a ceiling plenum to diffuse conditioned air vertically through the chamber. The top to bottom air circulation guarantees stable and consistent performance over the testing period.

Multiple heating and cooling systems are available, as well as a diverse list of options that together will create the chamber to accommodate your specific application..

Temperature Humidity Cycling Chamber Refrigeration System

The ETC Ultimate Series Temperature Humidity Cycling Chamber uses scroll compressors on all models up to and including 15 hp. The scroll compressor replaces standard, hermetic or semi-hermetic units, providing a more reliable system.

Unlike conventional compressors, which use about 15 parts to compress the refrigerant gas, scroll compressors use four moving parts. The compressors operate at lower internal temperatures. Fewer parts and lower temperatures yield less failures and an extended product life.

Temperature Humidity Cycling Chamber Humidity System

The humidity system is constructed of 100% non-corroding parts and is equipped with its own low water protection system. A transparent Pyrex vessel permits easy inspection and enables easy clean out and maintenance. The system operates at atmospheric pressure and is specially vented to prevent undesired siphoning.

Temperature Humidity Cycling Chamber Heating System

Low-mass nichrome, open wire heating elements are used to reduce thermal lag and provide rapid response to instrument demand. The heating elements are isolated from the workspace to reduce radiant influence on the test item.

Temperature Humidity Cycling Chamber Control System

The Pro-Touch control system uses modern, user-friendly touch screen technology that's powered by Windows CE. Environmental conditions within the chamber can be viewed in real time on the graphical display.

The Pro-Touch control system features:

Tenney Constuction Features

Construction

All models feature vapor-tight, continuously welded stainless steel interiors with structural reinforcement at all critical points.

Features include:

  • Continuously welded through-wall ports
  • Fiberglass and polyurethane insulation around the chamber
  • Minimal thermal transfer

Sensors

Sensors provide accurate control and display with minimum maintenance.

Features include:

  • Platinum Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) sensor to measure temperature
  • Electronic capacitive sensor to measure humidity
  • No wet wick or water supply required

Doors

The chambers are continuously welded to ensure the chamber maintains atmospheric integrity. All doors are equipped with double gaskets that trap air and insulate the chamber. An energy efficient system circulates hot gas from the refrigeration system to provide automatic defrost for the door gaskets, which ensures pliable and long lasting gaskets.

Conditioning System

Uniform conditions are assured through the use of a vertical recirculation conditioning stream. The system draws air through the bottom of the workspace, conditions it as required, and then discharges the air through a plenum at ceiling level.

  • Performance is based upon an empty chamber operatfing at 24°C (75°F) ambient air and may vary slightly at other ambient temperatures. Voltages below those listed may affect performance. All performance data is for 240 or 480V / 60Hz operation.
  • Liquid Nitrogen is available as an option on all systems. When Liquid Nitrogen is provided, the heater KW is automatically upgraded to the maximum for that chamber size. Consult factory for current draw of any Liquid Nitrogen equipped chambers.
  • Airflow circulation is based on blower wheel performance curves. Actual circulation rate will vary depending on the cooling option selected.
  • Temperature uniformity Standard deviation from the mean, measured at –25°C and 100°C. 9 Point: Uniformity measured in accordance with ASTM E145 section 4 at temperatures of –25°C and 100°C.
  • Test chamber performance may be affected by the addition of certain optional accessories.
  • Chamber operation utilizing 50Hz power utility will derate performance approximately 17%
