Putting Batteries to the Test

Posted: Sep 23, 2016 | Categories: Testing

For most of us, our days start off with the beeping of an alarm, maybe even hitting the snooze button a few times. We then reach for our cell phones on the nightstand and unplug it from the charger to check our emails or scroll through social media feeds. While grabbing a cup of coffee we might use the remote to turn on the TV and check the news before jumping in our cars to head to work. Within the first hour of our days we are have already used three or more items that require a battery. In order to ensure that batteries perform safely and as they should to keep your devices running they need to be tested in a variety of environmental conditions, and that’s where Tenney test chambers come into play.

Tenney, a division of TPS, LLC, designs and manufactures a variety of temperature and temperature/humidity test chambers that are used to test products before they go to market.  Specifically geared to the battery industry, the Tenney SafeTest™ chamber was designed for safe and reliable battery testing. Whether your company serves the automotive, computer, telecommunications, defense, or alternative-energy industries, you need a safe, reliable way to test batteries prior to bringing your products to market. This system offers a comprehensive line of standard and optional test-chamber safety features that can be customized to fit your company’s battery-testing needs.

Countless batteries have to be tested before getting off to the production line.  Some examples of battery testing include:

  • abuse testing of automotive batteries
  • automotive rechargeable batteries (RESS systems)
  • safety of lithium batteries
  • lithium ion batteries
  • testing lithium ion batteries
  • portable lithium cells and batteries
  • portable battery cells
  • consumer and commercial batteries
  • laptop rechargeable batteries
  • phone rechargeable batteries

We were pleased to exhibit at this year’s The Battery Show in Novi, Michigan. The Battery Show Exhibition & Conference showcased advanced battery technology for many industries including; electric & hybrid vehicles, portable electronics, medical technology, telecommunications, and many more. During the event we were able to network with others in the industry and meet with new potential customers. Thank you to everyone that stopped by our booth and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year! In the meantime, feel free to contact a member of our expert Battery-Testing Team today to learn more about the Tenney SafeTest™ chamber.
