Thermal Product Solutions, a global manufacturer of thermal-processing equipment, announced the shipment of a Gruenberg Conveyor Oven to the medical device industry. The oven was used in a Class “A” environment.
This Gruenberg conveyor oven has a maximum temperature rating of 650° F and work chamber dimensions of 16” W x 66” D x 22” H. The medical device oven is comprised of a 72” heat zone, 24” buffer zone, and a 60” ambient cooling zone. Medical components are transported through the system in a customer-supplied basket on a 12” wide conveyor belt, constructed from a structural steel frame that supports the aluminized steel chamber liner and the exterior cold-rolled steel sheet metal. All interconnecting struts are non-continuous, which keeps the exterior cool.
This Class “A” conveyor oven utilizes vertical-down airflow, which maximizes heating rates and temperature uniformity of the product load. Two circulation fans with variable frequency drives are in a conditioning plenum chamber on the top of the oven. These fans direct air through a diffuser panel to flow vertically down across the product. The air exits the work chamber on the bottom side and returns back to the heaters for reheating and recirculation.
“Gruenberg products are designed to meet the highest standards of safety specifications. This conveyor oven yielded one basket containing 7kg of silicone coated medical instruments with a 20-minute residence time in the conditioning zone.” – Denny Mendler, Gruenberg Product Manager
