Tenney Industrial Blast Freezer

A cascade type refrigeration system is employed using two 25 HP reciprocating compressors in a low stage / high stage design, with thermostatic expansion valve (TEV) type refrigerant control. A cascade condenser is utilized in the low stage, where low stage refrigerant is cooled and condensed by high stage refrigerant. This efficient design permits extreme low temperatures to be attained. This system also uses a water-cooled condenser in the high stage, which is used to change hot compressed refrigerant gas to a liquid state to achieve specific thermal transfer functions.

Cooling of the chamber is achieved by regulating refrigerant flow to the main evaporator cooling coil mounted in the chamber conditioning plenum. This coil consists of coiled copper tubing with expanded aluminum heat transfer fins, and extends the width of the conditioning plenum.
